Am fost atraşi la nord de Lăzarea şi Gheorgheni de imaginea unei biserici imense, pe care am văzut-o în oraş. Nu ne venea să credem că e o imagine reală aşa că trebuia să mergem să vedem cu ochii noştri.
Se vede de departe de pe drum, uriaşă, ca un punct de reper geografic. La scurt timp eram chiar lângă ea, sucind gâtul să o privim până sus (până la turnuruile de 75 de metri) şi eu chinuindu-mă să o bag în cadru. Din fericire, biserica are o curte foarte mare ce oferă o perspectivă ideală pentru fotografii.
Biserica a fost construită între anii 1908-1913, chiar înainte de izbucnirea Primului Război Mondial. Presupun că erau vremuri prospere pe atunci (pe care războiul le-a curmat) şi sunt convins că mai târziu biserica nu ar mai fi fost construită. Meritul este al preotului paroh Takó János. I s-a ridicat şi statuie, chiar lângă biserică. La intrare se poate consulta un scurt istoric al bisericii, cu numele meşterilor şi artiştilor care au ridicat şi decorat biserica.
Desigur, biserica era şi pare şi astăzi mult prea mare faţă de sătucul în care se află (încap în ea 5000 de oameni). Este o adevărată catedrală, inclusiv cu vitralii înalte. Altarul este pictat şi înăuntru se află multe prapore şi steaguri, inclusiv steagul Ungariei sau steaguri secuieşti.
Vizavi de biserică se află monumentul eroilor şi o poartă secuiască sculptată în lemn. Tot în preajma bisericii se află un monument multilingv închinat păcii. "Pace pe pământ!".
Dacă sunteţi în zonă merită ocolul pentru a vedea catedrala din Ditrău, nu e greu de găsit.
The catholic church in Ditrău
We were curious to visit this church after seeing its picture in Gheorgheni. It is just north of Lăzarea and it's worth the detour.
Already from the road we could see it towering like a feature of the land. In a few minutes we were next to it, craning our necks to look at its 75 meter towers and having trouble fitting it in the camera frame. Fortunately there is a large courtyard from where you have an ideal vista.
The church was built between 1908 and 1913, just before World War I. Prosperous times cut short. Makes us wonder. I'm sure the church would never have been built afterwards. The merrits belong to Father Takó János, whose statue is right next to the church. At the entrance there is a short history of the building, in several languages and the names of all those who contributed by craft is listed.
The church is much too large for such a small village, 5000 people would fit in it. It is actually a cathedral, with stained glass windows, frescoes and many liturgical flags but also the flag of Hungary and others with Szekler motifs.
On the other side of the road there is the heroes monument and a traditional Szekler gate sculpted in wood. Right near the church there is also a multilingual monument dedicated to peace. "May peace prevail on earth!"
If you're around Ditrău, look for this church. It's hard not to spot it!
