Casa memorială Cloşca (Ion Oargă)

În comuna Roşia Montană, în satul Cărpiniş, chiar pe lângă drumul principal Abrud - Câmpeni, puteţi face un popas pentru a vizita casa memorială Ion Oargă, cel care este mai cunoscut sub porecla de Cloşca.

Casa nu este cea originală din secolul 18 ci a fost reconstruită după o schiţă de la sfârşitul secolului 19. Înăuntru funcţionează un mic muzeu cu informaţii despre Răscoala din 1784 şi obiecte etnografice. De pe costişa unde se află casa aveţi o privelişte tipică pentru Munţii Apuseni.

Cloşca (Ion Oargă) Memorial House

In Cărpiniş Village, part of Roşia Montană, on the main road Abrud-Câmpeni, you can take a pause to visit the Ion Oargă Memorial House, the historical figure better known under his surname "Cloşca". He was one of the leaders, along with Horea and Crişan, of the "Revolt of Horea, Cloşca and Crişan" in the winter of 1784-1785. The peasants revolted in the Apuseni Mountains asking Austrian Emperor Joseph II for political and social rights, most importantly the abolition of serfdom and the equality of between Romanians (the major ethnicity in numbers) and other ethnicities of Transylvania (Hungarians, Saxons and Szeklers).

The revolt was put down and its leaders executed at Alba Iulia. Horea and Cloşca were broken on the wheel while Crişan hanged himslef in prison to avoid the execution.

The house is a replica of the original and hosts a small museum. The view from the hill alone is worth the visit.
