Paloş

V-am povestit, la Caţa, cum se face că de la superba biserică din Homorod, am continuat spre nord pentru a căuta satul Paloş: doream să vedem satul natal al naşului părinţilor mei, un om extraordinar pe care l-am admirat mult. Era un foarte bun profesionist, îi plăcea lucrul făcut, tot timpul glumeţ şi binedispus şi foarte optimist. Era unanim respectat şi iubit, cu o familie frumoasă şi prieteni care-i cereau deseori sfatul. Mi se pare mare lucru să fii un astfel de om şi cred cu tărie că ei schimbă în bine comunitatea în care trăiesc şi până la urmă şi ţara. 

Paloş este sat istoric românesc, deci evident, nu are biserică fortificată săsească. Am descoperit un sat mic, cu câteva case ce păreau părăsite, dar altfel foarte îngrijit şi liniştit, fiind o dupămasă călduroasă. Am vizitat biserica, în faţa căreia sunt aliniate monumentele eroilor căzuţi în cele două războaie mondiale, aşa cum se cade în orice comunitate care-şi respectă strămoşii. Şi pe casele din jur erau plăci comemorative. Una atesta trecerea lui Mihai Viteazul în campania din Moldova. Alta vizita poetului Mihai Eminescu, găzduit în sat. Pe altă placă este menţionat chiar un strămoş al naşului, domnul Lascu Filip, martir al Revoluției din 1848. 

La plecare ne-am intersectat cu un tren care-şi trăgea molcom vagoanele la vale, semn că există viaţă şi viitor în acea vale atât de frumoasă, izolată şi liniştită. 

Paloş

I told you, in Caţa, why, after visiting the beautiful church in Homorod, we ventured in an isolated valley to look for a village named Paloş. It is home to my parent's godfather, an extraordinary man I admired a lot. He was a dedicated professional, he liked things well done, was always in a good mood, optimistic and ready to tell a good joke. He was unanimously respected and loved, had a beautiful family and friends who often asked for his advice. I believe it is something to be a man like that and I strongly believe that such people change the communities they live in for the better and ultimately their country too. 

Paloş is historically a Romanian village, so there is no Saxon fortified church there. We discovered a small village, with a few houses that looked abandoned but very well kept as for the rest. The church is beautiful, with monuments to those who died in the World Wars, as it is proper in any community which respects its forefathers. Houses near the church bore plaques. One mentioned the passage of Michael the Brave on his way to campaign in Moldova. Another reminded of national poet Mihai Eminescu's visit. Yet another one mentioned an ancestor of my parent's godfather, Lascu Filip, martyr of the 1848 Romanian Revolution in Transylvania. 

When leaving we saw a train crossing, slowly pulling its wagons down the valley. There's life in this beautiful, isolated and quiet valley!
