Lumânarea recunoștinței

Cel mai grandios moment din Caravana "Trai mai bun" spre Soroca a fost când am vizitat monumentul "Lumânarea Recunoștinței".

The grandesc moment of the "Better living" caravan towards Soroca was the visit at the "Thankfulness Candle"

Monumentul este ridicat pe un deal împădurit de pe dealul Nistrului.

The monument is erected on a forested hill on the Dniestr bank.

The inscription is a popular expression in Romania describing a beautiful place and it translates roughly "In a fair place, on a Heaven's edge". 

Câteva sute de trepte duc până la monument.

Acesta a fost ridicat la inițiativa scriitorului Ion Druță, președinte de onoare al Uniunii Scriitorilor din Republica Moldova, în amintirea tuturor monumentelor distruse de timp și de oameni în Basarabia, elemente pierdute ale patrimoniului național. Înăuntru se află o capelă mică.

The monument was an initiative of Romanian writer Ion Druță, honorary president of the Writers Union of the Republic of Moldova, as a remembrance for all the monuments destroyed by time or by people in Bessarabia, lost heritage over the years. Inside there is a small chapel.

Turnul este vizibil din toată valea, dar din apropiere e dificil de fotografiat, mai ales că soarele nu bătea din direcția bună.

The tower is visible from the valley below, but it was hard to photograph from up close that day, as the sun was shining from the wrong direction.

Era o zi superbă, după mai multe zile cu ploi. Valea Nistrului se vedea în toată splendoarea, spre Basarabia...

It was a beautiful sunny day after several overcast and rainy days. There was a perfect view on the Dniestr towards Bessarabia...

... și spre malul ucrainean.

... and towards the Ukrainian shore.

Lângă turn se află una dintre cele mai mari și mai frumoase răstingniri (troiță) văzute în Basarabia. 

Near the tower is one of the largest and most beautiful stone cross seen in Bessarabia. 

Poate nu întâmplător s-a nimerit ca ultima postare pe anul 2014 să fie despre un monument denumit "Lumânarea Recunoștinței." Trebuie să fim recunoscători pentru ceea ce 2014 ne-a adus bun și pentru ce ne-a învățat și să avem speranța unui 2015 frumos.

Maybe it's not a coincidence that the last post for 2014 was about a monument named "The Thankfulness Candle". We must be thankful for what 2014 has taught us and for the good things it has brought us, and hope for a beautiful year 2015.
