The museum is hosted in a former justice court building. The architecture is typical and inside you can clearly see the lobby (called in Romanian and French "room of the lost footsteps").
This museum, like all history museums in Romania, starts off with old pots, coins and arrow heads. Moving on and following history's thread, we arrive in the Medieval Age, where local history is well presented since Târgovişte was capital of Wallachia, precursor of Romania.
I was very much annoyed abroad when no explanations were available in English in museums. I am very sorry to see that in local and regional museums there are also seldom explanations in English, but I hope this will be corrected soon (in the next very few years). In the meantime, foreign visitors could get information from the museum keeper.
Not to make the same mistake, I would like to specify that se second image is an old
inscription from Dealu Monastery, the third is a fragment from the reproduction of Prince Matei Basarab's tombstone. He is burried at Arnota Monastery, Vâlcea County.
